Hola todos! Mi nombre es Corey y soy de Los Estandos Unidos. Estoy viajando en Chile en me auto (Toyota Landcruiser 80). No hablo/entiendo espanol muy bien....

Yo tengo una problema con me Fox Shox 2.0 Necessito "revalve" . Hay una tienda en el norte de Chile se vende partes for estos shox? Estos shox esta muy mal en ripio.

Acutalamente estoy acerca Copiapo, y voy a ir norte al Uyuni y san pedro.

Hello! I am currently traveling through Chile in my Toyota 80 series landcruiser. I need to have the Fox Shox 2.0 revalved and would like to know if there is a shop in northern Chile that carries parts for these Shox. The shox are very bad on washboard!

He living in Serena, about 200 miles from Copiapo.

I have emailed Rodrigo Islas but no response yet. I will go north to Antofagasta soon and hope I can find something there or Iquique or Arica. The shocks are really bad right now :( Finding parts without speaking good spanish is hard :)

Backup plan would be to buy new shocks maybe in Uyuni since lots of 80 series landcruisers there.

On Our store (in Santiago ) we have rebuild kit and shims for 2.0 Fox shocks, i can ship it were you need, soo only you need find someone for The labor.

Thanks Diablo and vsilva! I will contact the friend in Antofagasta. Maybe I could have the shims shipped to him. How long does mail from Santiago to Antofagasta take?

If necessary I can do the work myself if there is no shop here or in iquique. And then I can find nitrogena later.

Shocks still need work....I will probably try to buy new ones as a temporary solution in Calama or Uyuni. More pictures later!

Hey Corey , I answered your PMs @ Expedition Portal , for your Fox shocks sake try to call or Email Patricio, he has imported many Fox shocks and parts and might have shocks or valving kits here , or he might be able to import some for you while you are in Bolivia. So if you plan to drive southbound later on , it might be of some help. He is located in Santiago btw.

Nice pis Coax, very beautiful scenery , the big north of Chile and Bolivia is a very special place and thanks for sharing those nice pcitures. Did you have problems with the altitude (15.000 ft) according to your gps ??

Nope, not me! :) I didn't actually make it up to Iquique this trip. I ran out of time before I needed to head back south. I'm south of Talca now heading towards Puerto Montt. Thanks for the offer though! If any issues pop up with the car I'll send you a message.

Thanks! Yes the north of Chile and Bolivia are like no other place. Very beautiful. No problems with the altitude, for either myself or the car! Cold weather and high altitude are one place its nice to have a gasoline/bencina engine instead of teh diesel. I would like a turbo though :)

Thanks! I have actually now finished the trip and am back in the states. Had a great time in southern chile and argentina, with the exception of the shocks :)

so what was the diagnosis on the shocks?

also what would you do the same and what would you do differently
if you were to do the trip over?

Thanks! The problem with the shocks was bad valving. I valved them incorrectly before I left :cabezaso: Once I get the car back I will revalve the shocks and should be much better :)

Your second question is a bit harder!

For the vehicle, I would have run "E" load range tires instead of D. Also a better tent rain fly and a wind block for the rear tail gate. I really liked most of the rest of the setup. The landcruiser worked great and I had no other issues.

For me, I wish I spoke more Spanish! :-? I would take a longer spanish class before doing another trip like this. 3 months at least of school.

For the trip in general, I wish I had more time. Even for only visiting 3 countries, 6 months as not enough time. There is so much to see!
