When a 620-horsepower LSX454 crate engine from General Motors is not sufficiently powerful, the company is introducing the LSX454R, a 454-cubic-inch (7.4-liter) V-8 producing 720 horsepower and 720 pound-feet of torque (Rumores hablan que llega a los 800 Hps). According to GM, the LSX454R is the most powerful small-block V-8 the automaker has ever engineered.





GM says the new engine brings together some GM Performance Parts for the LSX series racers already use.

“The LSX454R uses the latest LSX parts and factory-engineered technology to take LS performance to the next level,” said Dr. Jamie Meyer, product integration manager for GM Performance Parts. “This is a great engine to use when building a cutting-edge drag car with one of our new Camaro bodies in white.”

The LSX454R is made for drag racing, with its high-compression, solid-roller combination using LSX DR cylinder heads. GM engineers have also optimized high-rpm airflow, thanks to the 11-degree, six-bolt aluminum heads with raised ports. A new high-rise open-plenum intake manifold and a Holley 1150-cfm Dominator carburetor complete the package.

Pricing hasn’t yet been released, but we can tell you the regular LSX454 crate engine carries an MSRP around $11,500. Pricing won’t likely be a concern for those who must have one of the biggest and baddest crate engines available.
